Valentina Attolini (b. 1998, Mexico City) considers how experience is formed and destabilised through perception, memory, and bodily awareness. It reflects on the body not as a fixed entity, but as something shaped through continuous contact with the world, where meaning is never stable but constantly reconfigured through sensation and recall.
These ideas are developed through a process of working directly on the surface with charcoal, using the hands as the primary tool. She creates an intimate exchange between body and material, images are built through pressure, accumulation, and erasure, as if carried from embodied memory onto the surface.
Since 2025, Valentina Attolini has been based at TKE Studios in Margate as an artist in residence at the Tracey Emin Artist Residency.
